The feedback in CA2 for communicative ability was really positive. They told me I had clearly written my portfolio and used good examples of how I changed. They said I had a good idea of who my audience is. In CA2 I made a work to show my growth in the last 2 years. I made a puzzle of a map and told a fictional story about what my journey was like, from doing admissions to CA2. They thought this was a fun and good way to show my competence.
The publication assignment was a project in which I communicated a lot with my audience. My publication would be selling t-shirts. I had to be aware of who my audience was, what they liked and what they would want to represent by wearing a t-shirt.

To discover if my audience liked the designs I had made, I simply asked them on social media. On instagram I asked if people would want to wear my t-shirts. I posted designs of t-shirts one by one, with the question 'would you wear this?' and a yes and no option. On twitter I made pictures of my designs with numbers, so people could vote through a poll. It quickly became clear to me what people liked and didn't like. I made new designs based on the results and asked one last time. Based on the final results I made 4 choices and pre-ordered samples.

I am still in the middle of this project. I realize it is important to keep on communicating with my audience through social media, to promote the t-shirts for when they launch. I am planning on doing a photoshoot with the t-shirts and then hype up the launch for a week on social media.
For the musicvideo 'Zon in de nacht' I had to translate the song into a visual. The client made it very clear to the friend I was working with and I, that he didn't want a literal explanation of the lyrics in the video.

My friend and I both had the same vision for what the musicvideo should become and we kind of let the client out of it. We strongly believed that this was the right way to portray it, so we dived into it without communicating much with the client.

The song was about a guy who runs into a girl at night, who makes the sun shine eventhough it's night. We had to find a not literal way to visualize this. We decided to use a still image of the guy sitting in a park and the girl on the other side. They sit there throughout the whole video and move very slightly. We decided to focus namely on the galaxy, the sun and the lighting in the video, to make the feelings clear. In parts of the song with a lot of instruments, we make the galaxy move a lot and a lot of objects like stars and planets appear. When the sun comes up the scene gets brighter. When the part with a lot of instruments stop, the galaxy stops spinning and the details fade away.
The client didn't want to release the musicvideo yet, so I can not show it.

We were happy about how this project turned out. We found a way to tell a story, without literally showing what is being said in the music video, yet it still fits together. The client was impressed as well, but he told us he would have wanted that we involved him more in the project. He wanted himself to be portrayed more in the video, instead of this man that you could only see from the back. The client was a friend and this was kind of a favor. If I were to work with a real client, I would definitely involve him more. This was a learning moment for us: we shouldn't be overly confident about our ideas, but keep in mind what the client wants.
